The following, from the Pennsylvania Packet of October 3, is
inserted by particular desire.
  Secure he stands, his front undaunted shows,
  Alone he combats, 'midst a host of foes;
  For more than death, he dreads a sully'd name,
  And if he dies, would close his death with fame.
. . . [4 column essay on freedom, signed] John Morgan.
Philadelphia, October 1, 1778.
